How Citronella Works

Masks human scents: Citronella's strong aroma masks the carbon dioxide and lactic acid humans emit, which attract mosquitoes and other biting insects.

When blended with moisturizing shea butter, our formula creates a protective shield on your skin that bugs hate. You can even apply to your face, since the butter is nourishing to your skin.

Because our shea butter is made from natural, unrefined ingredients, you may occasionally notice small brown specks or pieces that settle at the bottom of the jar. This is completely normal and safe — it’s simply part of the natural plant material that didn’t fully strain out during the melting and blending process.

When we prepare each batch, the heavier particles naturally sink to the bottom as the shea cools and solidifies. Some batches are smoother than others, but this variation is a sign that your product is made fresh and true to nature — never over-processed or stripped of its natural properties.

These tiny bits do not affect the quality, safety, or effectiveness of the shea butter. In fact, they’re just a reminder that what you’re using comes directly from the earth. 🌿

Yes! 🙌 Our formulas are chemical-free, DEET-free, and toxin-free. Safe for children and adults. For babies under 6 months, we recommend applying a small amount on clothing instead of direct skin contact.

On average, protection lasts 2–4 hours. For longer outdoor activity, reapply as needed.
